STOKE SPORTS SAFEGUARDING HUB WELCOME MEETING Out of School Settings Code of Practice
Whether you are the coach of a children’s football team, a dance teacher, swimming instructor or the director of a drama club, we all have a duty of care toward the children we come into contact with and it is important to know what your safeguarding responsibilities are.
This new government guidance can help you run a safe setting. It lays out a minimum level of practice to reduce the risk of harm to children in clubs or community-led activities.
The guidance can be used if you have not yet put safeguarding and child protection measures in place as well as to check that existing procedures are consistent with best practice. By adopting these practices, you will be taking reasonable steps to ensure the safety of children using your services and attending your settings as well as providing additional reassurance to parents/carers that their children will be safe in your care.
