Detail:

This course is available for people working with children and families in Stoke-on-Trent.  For those working with children and families outside of Stoke-on-Trent, please contact your local Safeguarding Children Partnership.  Participants must have undertaken Level 1 Child Protection training before attending this course.

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY ATTENDED A LEVEL 2 TRAINING EVENT WITH EITHER STOKE-ON-TRENT OR STAFFORDSHIRE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO ATTTEND THIS TRAINING AGAIN.

We recommend people update their Level 2 certificate by completing a Level 3 or Level 4 training event.

Not everybody needs to attend Level 2 training, please see Target Staff below. You can attend Level 3 training without having completed Level 2 training.


THE COST TO ATTEND THIS LEVEL 2 COURSE IS:

  • £100 per person

(With the exception of the three statutory safeguarding partners, voluntary, faith, charitable and community interest company organisations).


Target Staff: This multi-agency course is for those with a particular responsibility for safeguarding children, such as designated lead or named professionals who may be responsible for safeguarding in their teams or organisations.  This may include undertaking s47 (child abuse) enquiries, working with complex cases, or those who would regularly attend Child Protection Conferences. 

The programme will be delivered over two half-day sessions and delegates must attend both sessions in order to gain their certificate.

  • Restorative Practice
  • Making a referral to the Children's Advice and Duty team (ChAD)
  • Concept of significant harm
  • Safeguarding Practice Reviews/Information Sharing
  • Dealing with disclosures
  • Challenging appropriately

Level 2 Day/Session 2

Aims & Objectives

  • What is a Child Protection Conference
  • What has to happen before a Child Protection Conference takes place
  • What happens in an Initial Child Protection Conference
  • Core Groups/timescales – who does what?
  • How a Child Protection Conference ends
